We checked 8 chiropractic clinics for AI visibility. A quarter were invisible to AI.
When their back goes out, people now ask ChatGPT and Google's AI "who's a good chiropractor near me?" So we took 8 real chiropractic clinics in Columbus, OH and scored how well an AI assistant can actually understand and recommend each one from its website.
We ran every homepage through a tool that reads a site the way an AI assistant does and scores it from 0 to 100 on the things a model needs to recommend a business: what it does, where it serves, its services, structured data, contact details, pricing signals, hours, answers to common questions, and trust signals. The readable clinics did reasonably well. The story was what happened to the other two.
A quarter simply weren't in the conversation
Two of the eight clinics couldn't be read at all: the crawl loaded the page and found nothing usable, the signature of a site built mostly in JavaScript or behind a booking-widget wall. That's a 25% invisibility rate, among the highest we've measured. These clinics aren't scoring low; when a patient asks an AI for a chiropractor, they don't come up. Of the six that could be read, most landed as solid B's:
None of the readable clinics reached an A. They're findable and understood, but not yet the clinic an AI is confident enough to name over the others.
What AI couldn't tell about these clinics
The readable clinics left an assistant guessing on what a patient decides by: which conditions and techniques they treat (adjustments, decompression, sports injuries), whether they take insurance, new-patient specials, hours, and plain answers to "can you help with my sciatica / do you take my plan?" That is exactly what tips a model from listing a clinic to recommending it, and it often lived in an image or a form rather than readable text.
Two different problems, two different fixes. For the invisible clinics, the fix is technical: make the site's content readable to a crawler at all. For the B-grade ones, it's content: add the specifics and structured data that move a solid clinic into the range AI actually recommends. Both are very doable, and neither is a rebuild.
The takeaway
Chiropractic sits in the middle of our study: decent readable content, but a quarter of clinics invisible and none reaching an A. The clinics that make sure they're readable first, then spell out their conditions, insurance and answers in plain text with structured data, will be the ones an AI names when a patient in pain asks for help.
